G’day, from Karen Caffrey. 

I’m honored to have the opportunity to share and work with my friends, Karen Weir and Cindy Bolley, on this blog project of ours.  It was hatched out of needs and desires we shared as women building home based businesses. 

We discovered we had similar challenges and dreams, and therefore, it made sense that there must be other women out there like us who would benefit from our experiences and knowledge.   It is our hope to share our insights with you, and that you will share yours with us. 

Now, to a little about my background:  I live Downunder, in the State of Queensland, Australia.  I have been married to my husband, Robert, for over 22 years, and we have one daughter, one dog, one goldfish, one canary and one budgerigar.  All of the above have personality plus, and keep us on our toes.

My career prior to Internet Marketing was in Nursing.  I was a Registered Nurse in several specialties including Spinal, Radiology and Community Care.  I chose to retire from nursing in 2002 to be at home for my family to reduce the stress levels on myself and them. 

A few years later, I began to teach my daughter from home, and we are about to start our third year of home schooling.  It has proven to be very beneficial for her both academically and emotionally.  Our relationships as a family have grown a lot deeper as a result of us spending more time together, and while at times very challenging, the decision to home school has been a good one.

My journey as a home based business owner began in the health and wellness industry.  I had become disillusioned with distributing pills to my patients as a nurse, as this mainly treated their symptoms and not the cause of their ailments, and also because of the side effects these medicines induced.  I already had a strong interest in alternative therapies, so this seemed a natural progression to me.   I still believe in the best of both worlds.  We need the benefits of modern scientific medicine, especially surgically, but many natural therapies have equal merit.

Anyway, back to home business.  I’d already begun to dabble in Internet Marketing prior to starting home schooling my daughter, so I started to look in earnest after that, to learn what the Internet had to offer me as a medium for building a home business. 

 My Criteria for a home business model was: 

• Could be conducted completely from home
• Worked in the hours convenient to me
• Fitted around my daughter’s home schooling needs
• Didn’t interfere with my family responsibilities
• Something I enjoyed
• Generated a profit 

Several years into my Internet Marketing journey, I met Karen Weir and Cindy Bolley.  We all use the Veretekk System tools in our online businesses, and we are active members and Trainers in the Prosperity Cast Network Inner Circle.  It is within these groups that the three of us have come to know and respect each other, and build friendships that will probably last our lifetimes. 

We have come to realize just how similar our aspirations are as Women building home based businesses in the midst of caring for families and all the challenges that go along with that.

So, I invite you to get to know us.  We hope to offer you inspiration, friendship, good advice, and perhaps make your learning curve online just a little bit shorter.
