A few days ago I read a book that I have not been able to get out of my mind. It was about one of the worse cases of child abuse in California history. The abuse took place in the 70’s. I certainly hope what the little boy suffered could not possible happen in today’s society.

I am one who will take bugs outside for release, rather than squash the. I have a whole house full of unwanted cats and dogs. So the book that I read the detailed the abuse of such a small child is just so hard for me to imagine someone doing the horrible nightmare this child must have suffered at the hand of his mother.

This kind of abuse was not the kind that you just lose your temper. This was a book about PLANNED TORTURE of a small child. Perhaps in the 70’s teachers were not able to pursue obvious signs of abuse and neglect. This story is very troubling to me.

What sort of a monster and what sort of a weakling was the father who stood by and watched?
I am getting ready to read the next in the series.

I too, read this story, and was very troubled. I am so glad despite all the abuse, that he turned out well enough to tell his story, and be able to write about it.

I have seen and heard him on several talk shows since he wrote the book.

He also reminds me of another person who was raised in an orphanage and abused as well, but not as bad, who has also been an overcomer and has become a great authour and writer.
