I am serious! This latest sex scandal has me wondering what the heck is sacred anymore. New York Governor Elliot Spitzer has apologized publically for his involvement in a prostitution ring. I was watching CNN last night and it was said this is a “victimless” crime.Â
IT IS NOT victimless!
The victims are Spitzer’s wife and children. Yes, he victimized them by engaging in the immoral and horribly hypocritical acts in the first place, but now the media is victimizing them again. Now I realize that when you go into public office you expect for your private life to be public, I further realize that what he did was wrong on so many levels, but come on… is it really front page news?
Imagine that you are a teenage girl who learned that your father was buying sex from a high priced hooker. Imagine the devastation you would feel. Now imagine how it would feel to have that news broadcast on international television. Again, I am not saying that the man should go unpunished. I do however think that his family has suffered enough.Â
I don’t think we need to know everything. Some matters should be kept private - this is one of those matters.

What is the truth? Even after the media, the courts and time have all had their affect does
my judgement really have any importance to it.

It is tremendously sad that the family always suffers the consequences of one member of the family and unfortunately if that member of the family is a public figure, then the publicity is huge.
The saddest being that the kids do suffer the most as they feel it is a reflection on them. Hopefully they are strong enough to know that it is not a reflection on them and that their father is all too human.
It is also sad that the media make a field day of
this type of news, because it sells papers etc. That is a reflection of us and the type of societies we have become.

I agree this is a sad situation. The only reason we hear of this is because of the political interest. If this man where not a Governor the story would not make the news. There are so many lives being ruined by infidelity on both sides that it is reaching epidemic proportions. Very few couples take their vows seriously anymore. It is very sad but family values are fading. Fred

His wife sure aged within 2 weeks of this story blowing. I was looking at a picture of her 2 weeks before, she looked young and her skin was looking good. Then after this hit her eyes were puffy and she looked aged. I wonder what was the real reason behind this as politics sure had a hand in it. And I wonder who had the last laugh as somebody sure wanted to break him.

I agree Jeunelle. She clearly had been through hell - standing there by his side. I was going to do a post about that… why would a woman do that? She’s just been pubically humiliated, and now she stands by his side for what?
Appearances? More public humiliation? I just don’t get that. If he were my husband, he’d be up there apologizing - ALONE. Not saying what she should or shouldn’t do, it is her life and marriage afterall… I just can’t imagine her WANTING to stand by her man at a time like that.
