Last week I happened to take a break from my computer and was doing some surfing of another variety… channel surfing on the television.  I stopped on an educational program already in progress - that was intended for an aboriginal audience.  Recently, our Canadian government made a bold move by apologizing to our native people for past mistakes, specifically the mistake of forcing native children to attend residential schools.  Our native people have had to overcome a good deal - of that there is no doubt, but this program was very different.

Instead of talking about the ills that have been visited upon them, the focus of this program was to foster healing.  Real healing.  It was fascinating and truly simple.  Broken down to its simplest form, the teaching was to take responsibility for your actions.  Regardless of what has occurred in your past, what environment you were raised in, what adversity you encountered - the day you elect to take 100% responsibility for yourself and for your life is the day that you are truly free. 

You see, taking responsiblity means taking control.  At the other end of the spectrum, being irresponsible is giving up your control.  When you view yourself as a victim of circumstances, you truly have no control.  Your environment and your situation is left 100% up to chance.  You have no control over your destiny.  When, however, you assume responsibility, you are not giving over your control.  Jails are full of irresponsible victims of circumstance. 

When you want or expect your government to “fix” what is wrong, you are giving up your control as well.  Do not wait for government or outside influences to “fix” whatever is wrong in your life.  Take control - which means taking responsibility.  This is really the simplest formula I have encountered yet in learning how to put the law of attraction to positive use in our lives.  Assuming responsibility puts you in instant alignment with the universal law.  More to come…
